Beeford is 5 minutes North of Pasture House, a short drive down the main road, you can park on the street or there are some parking bays near the tennis courts.
This walk is flat going, mixture of off road and on road.
5.7 miles – 9.1 kilometres Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes

Brandesburton is 5 minutes South of Pasture House, a short drive down the main road, you can park on the street or there is a car park at the back of the Dacre Arms pub.
This walk is flat going, mixture of off road and on road.
3.2 miles – 5.1 kilometres Approximately 50 minutes

Leven is 10 minutes away from Pasture House and you can park in The New Inn car park, the Sports Hall car park or anywhere on the street.
This route is flat and a mixture of off road and on road walking.

7.3 miles - 11.7 kilometres Approximately 1 hour 50 minutes

Walkington is about 25 minutes away from Pasture House, towards Beverley. You can park in the Ferguson and Fawcett pub car park, or on the street. There is a café halfway around called Folly Lake Café.
There is some elevation, but not too many hills or too difficult. It is a combination of off road and on road walking.

From farm trees to shire horses: the inspiration behind our bedroom names

When creating Pasture House Holiday Cottages, we wanted our cottages to feel welcoming, homely, and full of character — not like staying in a hotel. One of the ways we’ve done this is by giving every bedroom its own name.

More Than Just a Room Number

Rather than using numbers, each bedroom has a unique name. This helps us in two ways:

It makes it easier for guests to choose their preferred room layout — whether they’d like a superking bed or twin beds.
It also means guests can pick a favourite room to return to, as each one has its own style, décor, and bathroom set-up.

Bedrooms at Pasture House

Many guests are surprised to find that Pasture House has three floors, giving plenty of space to spread out:

Ground Floor – Willow, ideal for those who prefer not to use stairs.

Middle Floor – Field Maple, Whitebeam & Silver Birch, each with different layouts and larger bathrooms (bath, shower, toilet & twin vanity units). The Silver Birch room features a slipper bath!

Top Floor – Beech & Oak, tucked away, full of character and charm.

Every bedroom in Pasture House is named after a tree from the farm, reflecting the rural setting and our close connection to the landscape.

Bedrooms at The Stables

At The Stables, all rooms are on the ground floor — perfect for ease of access. These bedrooms are named after the two shire horses that would once have worked on the farm and lived in the very building that’s now been beautifully converted into holiday accommodation. It’s a little nod to the history of our cottages and the heritage of the land.

We’ve had such a wonderful summer at Pasture House Holiday Cottages , and we’d like to start with a huge thank you to all our guests who have made it so special. Your support, smiles and stories really do make our cottages feel like homes filled with happy memories.

�� A special celebration
This month, we were delighted to host our very first wedding! Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Turner , who celebrated their big day with a celebrant-led ceremony and marquee reception on the lawn at Pasture House. It was such a joy to be part of their day, and we can’t wait to share the photos with you soon.

�� Looking ahead
It’s been a busy few weeks with a flurry of new bookings, and autumn is really filling up fast. There are now only a handful of weekends left at Pasture House for 2025, so if you have dates in mind, don’t leave it too late to secure your stay.

We’re also pleased to share that discounted stays are available when arriving within 6 months – a lovely opportunity if you’d like to plan a last-minute escape. And if you’re thinking ahead to the festive season, we still have Christmas week available , with the option of a 4-night stay in Pasture House or to book both cottages together for a magical holiday gathering.

✨ Team news
This summer has also brought a bittersweet change. We’ve said goodbye to Sue , our cleaner, who has been with us since the very beginning. We are so grateful for her hard work, dedication and kindness over the years, and we’ll miss her dearly. At the same time, we’re thrilled to welcome Shannon to our team – she has already settled in beautifully, and it feels like she’s been here for years.

To mark Sue’s retirement, we enjoyed a special dinner together at Pasture House on a cleaning day – with a delicious graze board lunch from GRAZD . We can’t recommend her enough for graze boards, afternoon teas, breakfasts and brunches. Even better, she offers free delivery on orders over £100 to the cottages – perfect if you’d like to add something extra to your stay.

2024 Highlights

Time flies when you're having fun!

After another busy year in 2024, we want to thank all of the guests who chose to stay with us and we hope to see some familiar faces back in 2025!

Here are some highlights..

In March we held our first event, hosting over 100 people with the addition of a marquee on the back patio at Pasture House, this worked really well with catering from byMolly. We hosted a small family wedding in the summer and we have another booked for 2025.

We updated our Accessibility Guide for The Stables, using Accessable so it is now more user friendly with more information included for perspective guests.

Also in The Stables, the joiner fitted a rigid rail and a pull down rail in the Clydesdale bathroom, this change was on the back of some previous guests feedback. The joiner also carried out some general maintenance and fitted fire door closers to all of the fire doors in Pasture House so we are now fully compliant with the new fire regulations for holiday cottages.

After the busy summer period we had our Visit England assessment which we were grateful to retain our 5 Star Gold accreditation, we attended the REYTA's(Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards) as a finalist and we attended the Visit England ROSE (Recognition of Service Excellence) awards, winning the only award given out to a holiday let in East Yorkshire.

We had two exciting photo shoots, one with Femme Country Magazine and one from Paige and Partridge clothing company.

Finally before the busy festive bookings we had the decorator in to freshen up the cottages, this is the first time he has been since we opened!

Happy New Year, we hope 2025 is a great year and we can't wait to welcome guests to Pasture House Holiday Cottages and enjoy what we have to offer.

Pizza and Prosecco

What's not to love about Pizza and Prosecco?
There is a Pizza Oven at both cottages with; wood, kindling, firelighters, lighter and pizza slice provided, you just need to provide the dough and toppings! This is a fun activity to do together as a group because everyone gets involved and there isn't the large task for one person to cook for large groups especially in Pasture House. The patios are a lovely space to enjoy some al fresco dining.

Afternoon Tea

I think the photos below speak for themselves! The Afternoon Tea's that Jane at the Cake Girl produce are out of this world! They look too good to eat and she offers different variants for the different seasons.

We think when you have a booked to stay in a luxury cottage, you want to spend most of your time enjoying it, so bringing the afternoon tea to you, is a great way to do this.

Walk on the Beach and Fish and Chips

We are only 15 minutes away from Fraisthorpe Beach and previous guests have parked on the cliff top at Fraisthorpe and then walked to Bridlington, bought some fish and chips and then walked back, it's around 6 miles there and back. Or if you didn't want to walk that far, there is a café called The Cow Shed, at Fraisthorpe, so you can walk as far as you'd like and then go for some food or drink at the café.

Hot Tub Chills

There's not only one but two hot tubs at Pasture House! The photo below was taken in June which proves what lovely weather we can have before the summer months. There is the perfect outdoor space to enjoy with friends and or family.

Pamper Treatments

Again whilst you've booked to stay somewhere with luxurious, large rooms, why not use them? These two companies will come into the cottages and provide pamper treatments from pedicures to back massages, hair and makeup to yoga classes!

ROSE = Recognition Of Service Excellence

We have had to keep this a secret until the press release, we found out about this back at the end of July! Myself and my partner travelled down to Newbury to the Post Barn for a day of afternoon tea and awards.
It was lovely to spend time celebrating the amazing accommodation that England offers!

The ROSE award is one that we have always aspired to achieve, there are 100 accommodation providers nationally, annually that receive the ROSE award. It is in recognition of hosts that go above and beyond in providing excellent customer service. Nominations of the award are based on a range of feedback, including the annual VisitEngland quality assessment, the observations of our assessor, customer feedback direct to VisitEngland and online customer reviews. The final judging panel also look for innovation that sets winners apart.

Our cottages are both VisitEngland assessed to 5 Star Gold standard and there is a separate blog post that details what this means.

Events at Pasture House

Welcome to the start of Events at Pasture House!

Thinking of hosting an event? We may be able to help!

Back in March 2019 we hosted our first large event, with over 100 people in attendance. We attached a marquee to the patio doors of Pasture House and it covered the patio to the rear of the property, making a temporary extension onto the house where the food and drink was served and where we had the tables and chairs.

Wedding Receptions, Birthday Parties, Anniversary Celebrations, Wedding Vow Renewals or Engagement Parties are all events that would be suitable to host at the cottages. There is the luxury accommodation on site, that sleeps up to 16, for friends and family that are travelling to the area. Both properties would need to be booked as part of the event hire and then there wouldn't be any noise restrictions.

Below we are going to list some of the suppliers we would recommend;

Village Farm Marquees - they not only can provide the marquee, but tables, chairs, heaters, fairy lights, etc!
Please note that we would only allow events requiring a marquee to be installed on the lawn in the summer months (May, June, July, August, September), if outside of these months then a 9m x 9m marquee would be more suitably located on the patio to the rear of the property. The structure would also need to be taken down and all furniture etc collected by the end of your stay.

byMolly - Catering, what is great about Molly and her team is that her service can provide what you need in such a range of forms; whether you are looking for a three course sit down meal, a finger buffet, a BBQ, pie and peas for 110 guests (as pictured below) - you name it and Molly will do her best to deliver!

Toodoloo - Luxury Mobile Toilets, if you decided to go with this option, there would be a slight reduction allowed for in the quote for reduction of ware and tare, instead of guests using the toilets in the cottages.

Chin Chin Mobile Cocktail Bar - Mobile Events Bar, specialising in cocktails!

Field Flowers - Flowers for all occasions, room and table decorations and structures available for hire.

Beverley Events Company - all different types of balloon arrangements, illuminated number and letter and backdrop hire, phone box guest book, mini yurts, soft play, signs, the list goes on!

Great Newsome Brewery - Cask and Bottled beers, plus pump hire and delivery!

With all of the suppliers we have suggested, they may not be what you are looking, they may be over budget or they may not be available for your chosen date so we will do our best to recommend an alterative for you.

If all of the above sounds a bit overwhelming, we do provide an event management service in house provided by Sarah, she has experience hosting large events having been heavily involved with young farmers and she hosted the party for 100+ guests in March at the cottages, of which there were numerous good reports!

We don't hold an events license so if you were wanting to provide a bar where money would be exchanged, this would need to be applied for through the government website, it is called a Temporary Events License. Proof of this would need to be sent to Sarah before the event commences. With all of the third party suppliers, we would need to see a copy of their Public Liability Insurance certificate.

We also don't hold a marriage ceremony license, we decided that this would take away from the privacy of what we are providing currently. We have an upcoming booking for a couple who are going to have their whole wedding; ceremony and reception at the cottages but there won't be any legality to the ceremony and they are going to go to a registry office for this part. The most local to us is in Beverley.

Please get in touch for any more information. As you can imagine, every event will be different and mainly depending on the time of year and duration of stay, the price will differ. Therefore once we have all of the information required, we will be able to create a bespoke quote for your event.

Dacre Lake, Brandesburton (5 Minutes Away)

There is so much to do at Dacre Lake, Adventure Golf, Foot Golf, and in the warmer months; Cricket, Tennis, Canoeing, Hire a Pedalo, Water Skiing and other watersports! Finish of with a yummy pizza at Bert's just a few steps away.
Mr Moo's, Skipsea (11 Minutes Away)

Mr Moo's is an ice cream parlour and cafe serving delicious sundaes, home made lunches, morning coffee or afternoon tea. They are located on the beautiful Yorkshire coast and you can take a stroll down to the beach before or after visiting them.

Honeysuckle Farm, Bewholme (11 Minutes Away)

With various animals to see and feed, there is also a play barn, den building area and cafe to enjoy, not to far from the cottages.

William's Den, North Cave (33 Minutes Away)

A multi-award-winning attraction, with playscapes, woodland trails, camping, food and drink. There are lots of themed activities throughout the year so keep an eye on their social media or website. Just off the motorway, some guests visit this on the way to or away from their stay at the cottages.

Sledmere House (30 Minutes Away)

If it is a relaxing day looking around the beautiful walled garden you are in search of, enjoying a picnic in the grounds, a family day out exploring the wide open spaces, having fun in the adventure play area and meeting the animals in the Rare Breed farm park – or even looking at the fine art and architecture in the beautiful country house, there is something for everyone at Sledmere House.

Jump Inc, Beverley (20 Minutes Away)

A trampoline and inflatable park with zip lines, tumble tracks and playgrounds. We've had guests leave good reviews about Jump previously.

Jack in the Box, Beverley (20 Minutes Away)

A soft play area, with a cafe for the parents to relax while the children burn off some energy.

The Deep, Hull (35 Minutes Away)

A visit to an aquarium is suitable for all of the family - especially if there is some typical British weather! The Deep is known for its' shark tunnel. There are planned feeding times/talks throughout the day and also sleepovers can be arranged.

Let Loose, Woodmansey (23 Minutes Away)

This is said to be harder than Go Ape, so only suitable for children 10 years and above. Set yourself a challenge navigating the high ropes and obstacles. It is only open through the summer months so check the website for opening times.

Little Monkeys, Hull (40 Minutes)

Another soft play, as a wet day option! Suitable for children up to the age of 11 and there is a separate area for children under 5.

All of the above, plus we are 15 minutes away from the beach. Plus there are huge enclosed lawns at both properties which we often see toys spread to every corner, which is great!

We have attended various awards evenings this season so we thought it would be a nice idea to create a summary and update all in one place.

The Yorkshire Post Rural Awards - The Pavilions of Harrogate

We attended these awards back in September as a finalist in the Mixed Farm of the Year Category with a big focus of the application being on the recent diversification enterprise, that being the holiday cottages. For those of you that don't know, we are originally farmers, farming arable land, free-range poultry and renewable energy.

The Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTAs) - The Double Tree by Hilton, Hull

This is the second year that we have attended these awards as we were over the moon to win the Self Catering Accommodation category in 2022. We were finalists in three categories this year which meant we had three separate rounds of judging all looking at a different criteria.

The Yorkshire Post Tourism Awards - The New Dock, Leeds

We were very pleased to be finalists in three categories at these awards as it was the first year that we had entered them; Best Self Catering Accommodation, Accessible & Inclusive Tourism and Sustainable Tourism. We had a great evening networking with other business owners and celebrating everyone's achievements.

We didn't come home with any wins this year but we were delighted to be finalists in seven different categories across three different award ceremonies. There was some really tough competition, with some amazing cottages and businesses across the whole of Yorkshire. We are very proud to have reached as far as we did and we congratulate all of the winners on their achievements.

Changes and Improvements

We have been open just over 2 years and I thought I would update you of some changes that we have added in to the cottages, when costs have allowed and through suggestions from guests as things we could add/change to improve guests experience staying with us.

We have added two luxury sun loungers at The Stables, to match the ones at Pasture House, there are now faux fur fluffy seat pads on the island stools, a nest of side tables for the living room and a lamp to make it cosier in there. We have had some feedback that guests would like the window in Suffolk Punch that faces Pasture House to be more private, we completely agree with this and we are looking into order a venetian blind or some mirror window tint.

At Pasture House there is some additional seating in the form of an Abour Bench, some bay trees at the front of the property and some lavender planters either side of the patio doors at the back.

Both cottages now have a bug house and bird table, with a wildlife spotting guide in the Welcome Pack so hopefully to attract some more wildlife for you to enjoy viewing. They also both have lower tog duvets for the hot summer months and fans in every bedroom and living area.

Pasture House also now has many fly screens (just like roller blinds), one in every bedroom and a few in the main kitchen/dining area. We are based in the countryside and are surrounded by farms and fields so we have added these so that guests can enjoy the fresh air, it also makes it a nicer work environment for our cleaners. We are hoping to add some to The Stables in the future but because there are less windows in this property it isn't as necessary just at the moment, especially as we're coming into the winter months.

There are only a couple of you that have struggled to find us through putting the wrong place in Google Maps but we have bought a sign that we are hoping to get put up at the end of the drive in the off peak months when things calm down slightly on the farming side of the business too!

We have had some extravagant suggestions - like a swimming pool, although it would be amazing, the investment and upkeep isn't something we are in a position to look into at the moment.

We are also in the process of getting a quote for an EV charging point so we will update you when we know more on this.

Booking a holiday cottage that has taken care of the sustainable, green & responsible elements!

Trying to do your bit to help preserve the planet? You've come to the right place.

By booking a stay with us, you are helping the planet by holidaying in 'green' cottages that are doing their bit to be sustainable.

Let us tell you a bit more about what we are doing to be green and sustainable;

- Both cottages hot water and heating is generated from a Ground Source Heat Pump, this is a renewable source of energy.
- The secondary source of heating is from log burners using responsibly sourced logs from organically felled trees on the farm.

- Toiletries provided in the bathrooms are decanted from a bulk 5L container into the ceramic dispensers, to reduce single use plastic waste.

- All of the light bulbs are LED's and appliances are the highest efficiency rating.

It sounds like we are doing quite a few different things, we were awarded the Bronze award for Green Tourism earlier this year, there is a Silver and Gold award so there is a lot more that we could and will be doing. As part of the process there is feedback given in the areas for improvements so we plan to work on these areas in the future.

We are finalists for the REYTA (Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Award) category 'Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable'. Our application included all of the points above but also the fact that we have accessible, level access throughout the ground floor with lower level vanity units and kitchen work space. We source all of our Welcome Hamper ingredients locally, with the eggs coming from our farm, only a few fields away from the cottages. We are responsible for working with local companies such as Paige and Partridge and Oaklands Grand Lodge.
The awards ceremony is in November so wish us luck!

Accessible, Luxury Holiday Cottages in East Yorkshire

We do have an Accessibility Guide for both cottages, which I will include the links for below, but here is a brief summary of what we have done to make the cottages accessible for all to enjoy.

Here is the front entrance to Pasture House, the path is on a slight incline so that the doorway has level access, there are brick sets from the central car park to the front and back door of each property. The downstairs and outside area of both cottages, are fully accessible.

Above is an image of the downstairs bedroom en-suite in Pasture House. There is a grab rail underneath the window sill, pull down lever to the side of the toilet, a shower seat and grab rail inside the shower, level shower tray, a lower toiletries shelf in the shower, and a lower vanity unit. Similarly in The Stables both bedrooms ensuites' are on the ground floor and have level access, with a shower seat and grab rail inside the shower and pull down lever by the side of the toilet.

Above is a photo of the Willow bedroom, on the Ground Floor of Pasture House. This bedroom has a dressing table with space to pull a wheelchair under, lower storage and hanging space for clothes. The rugs can be taken away prior, if we are notified of a guest arriving in a wheelchair.

The kitchen and dining area in both cottages is fully accessible. Pasture House kitchen is pictured above and has a lower section of worktop, without any cupboards or drawers underneath so that a wheelchair can be pulled up to. This area can be used for food and drink preparation to make everyone in your booking party feel included.

Each bedroom in both cottages, can be made up as either a twin or superking room, the twin layout has been used by previous guests to enable a carer to be able to stay in the same room with those that need this level of care.

The perfect place for a multi-generational family holiday

Does your family consist of two or three, or even four generations and you're looking for somewhere to all stay together? We think this could be the place for you to make memories and relax whilst enjoying the Yorkshire countryside.

Pasture House and The Stables sleep 16 across the two properties, 12 and 4 respectively. There are 8 ensuite bedrooms that can all be made up as Twins or Superkings, so very flexible for any kind of family structure. Pasture House can dine all 16 people in the dining room or outside on the patio and there is plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware.
If the older generation would like to have their own space in The Stables, then they are a stones throw away from Pasture House.

On the Ground Floor in Pasture House there is an ensuite bedroom, Willow, that can be made up as a Twin or Superking, perhaps for those less mobile in your family. The whole of the Ground Floor has level access and in the Willow ensuite, there is a pull down leaver, grab rails, a lower vanity unit and a shower seat. In the bedroom there are lower shelves and hanging space and it is tiled throughout, the rugs can be taken away if we know someone in a wheelchair is coming. Also in Pasture House kitchen, there is a lower section of work top without any drawers underneath, so those in a wheelchair have their own food preparation surface. One of the two coffee machines, kettles and toasters can be moved onto this surface so independence can be achieved for making food and drink.

In The Stables, it is all on the Ground Floor and tiled, so accessible throughout. Similarly the bathrooms have grab rails, a pull down leaver and shower seat.

Once for the pre wedding evening meal on the Friday night and for the breakfast/brunch on the morning after the wedding. It can sometimes seem daunting cooking for 12 or 16 people so Molly and her team can take all of that stress away for you. Pasture House and The Stables lend themselves to a perhaps more relaxed affair for a hen party for example, we are not too far away from Hull and York if you are looking for a night out but most often decide to stay in the cottages. The bar area in both cottages is perfect for preparing drinks and you can relax in the hot tubs or have a homemade pizza for tea, there is plenty to do! Quite a few guests have blown away the cobwebs on the Sunday morning and headed to Fraisthorpe beach for a walk, this is only a 10/15 minute car journey from the cottages.

What does '5 Star Gold' Actually Mean? Visit England Assessment Explained

We have had some questions asking what is involved for a Visit England (VE) Assessment for a self catering property.

The short answer is an awful lot! (the standards booklet is 52 pages!).

The truth is we built the cottages with the VE guidelines in mind.. aiming for 5 Star.

The seven areas that they mark on are; Exterior, Cleanliness, Management and Efficiency, Public Areas, Bedrooms, Bathrooms and Kitchen.

There are minimum entry requirements for each category and then for each star rating that are things listed to obtain that level.

Some examples of Minimum Level requirements are;

- Dressing Tables in each bedroom

- Non flammable waste bedroom bins

- Sufficient hangers, wire hangers are not acceptable

- Mirror above or adjacent to the bathroom wash basin

- Additional cooking facilities for more than 12 guests

A few examples of requirements for 5 Star are;

- One bathroom for every four guests, but all of our bedrooms are en-suite.

- Washing Machine, Tumble Dryer, Freezer, Dishwasher

- Hairdryers provided in every room

- Choice of lighting levels, we have high (spotlights) and low (lamps) options controlled by a switch at the bed and the door of every bedroom.

- Good quality linen and mattress.

- If providing a Hot Tub it needs to be private

- The inventory for the kitchen is very extensive (in as much detail as a toast rack, tupper ware, cafetiere, gadgets such as food processor, electric whisk and pestle and mortar, different size teapots, egg cups, champagne flutes etc.)

You need to score between 87% and 100% overall to be awarded 5 Star. You need to score 87% in each of the sections apart from for cleanliness you need to score 90%.

Pasture House scored as follows;

Exterior - 93%

Cleanliness - 100%

Management and Efficiency - 100%

Public Areas - 96%

Bedrooms - 100%

Bathrooms - 92%

Kitchen - 97%

Overall 97%

The Stables scored as follows;

Exterior - 93%

Cleanliness - 100%

Management and Efficiency - 100%

Public Areas - 96%

Bedrooms - 97%

Bathrooms - 96%

Kitchen - 95%

Overall 96%

We also received the Gold Award for both cottages which is for 'Exceptional quality of accommodation and customer service'

We are not 100% sure whether the assessor was allowed to tell us this but he said they were the highest rated cottages he had ever assessed!

Even though very few know this, there are big differences between Visit England 5 Stars and Sykes Cottages 5 Stars for example, each holiday cottage marketing company will have their own grading system.

Sykes use this grading system for new properties;

1 tick / star - Simple, practical, no frills.
2 ticks / stars - Well presented and well run.
3 ticks / stars - Good level of quality and comfort.
4 ticks / stars - Excellent standard throughout.
5 ticks / stars - Exceptional standard with a degree of luxury.

They then average out the score of the first three reviews the holiday cottage(s) receives.

There is a train station in Beverley and Driffield which are our two local towns, about 20 minutes away from the cottages. There would then be a bus service available to Brandesburton, our nearest village. There are not any buses that would be able to bring you directly to the cottages, but we are two miles away from Brandesburton, so a taxi would then be able to bring you that short distance.

The easiest way to travel to us would be to drive, but we appreciate that isn't always an option for everyone.

We have ample, free, off-road car parking. The parking is adjacent to the properties and there is level access if required for wheelchair access.

The postcode should bring you almost to the cottages but you will be sent more detailed instructions five days prior to arrival, via email.

There isn't the option to walk to a bus stop for example, as there are not any public footpaths and the road isn't safe to walk on, which would take you to the local village.

Getting Ready for Summer at Pasture House Holiday Cottages!

We have had a great first eight months at Pasture House Holiday Cottages! We are so grateful for everyone who has booked to stay with us and although we have had a quiet few weeks since Easter we are ready for the spring and summer breaks that are booked in. Both properties have had a deep clean and we have used the calm before the storm wisely to get the properties ready.

If you are looking for a last minute break then we are offering 10% of all bookings placed for May and June 2022 using the discount code SPRING.

During our first eight months of operating we have learnt more about our target market and what kind of groups our cottages are suitable for. We have had Hen Parties, Bridal Proposal Parties where the Bride and Groom asked their bridesmaids and groomsmen to be part of their wedding day, birthday parties, family get togethers and friendship reunions. We were busy with bookings in December in Pasture House with weekend bookings leading up to Christmas with families having early Christmas get-togethers which we thought was a great idea!

What a first year we have had...

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the guests that have decided to stay with us for their holidays in the UK! A special thank you goes to Emma and Greg Usher who booked both Pasture House and The Stables as part of their wedding weekend in October, they booked back in February 2021 when both properties were a building site but they trusted our vision, they were our very first guests and in their review they said that 'the house made their weekend'.

Bookings and enquiries have gone absolutely crazy as we have got into the New Year and we are so grateful for that! I think that is one thing we can thank Covid for, for helping guests who maybe would have usually gone abroad, to choose to stay in the UK and enjoy what is on our doorstep which we often take for granted!

The Stables; before and after the renovation!

The Stables holiday cottage was originally the stable block for the working horses that worked the land surrounding Pasture House farm.
When we first started work on the project in 2017, the images below show that The Stables still had the hay racks, saddle hooks and it hadn't really been touched since it was an operational stable block.

With this property, because it was going to be a renovation, rather than a new build, we wanted to keep as much character as possible.
Above, the photo to the far right, shows the door that now separates the living, kitchen, dining area and the entrance. We were really unsure whether to keep this door in the property because it has grooves in the bottom where the horses have kicked the door but everyone who has seen the property loves the character and the history behind it.

Above shows some of the progress photos from how The Stables has transformed from somewhere where working horses live to somewhere where guests can stay in a luxury holiday let.

As shown in the last two photos, we have kept the original beams in what is now the main living, kitchen and dining area which again brings character to this property.

Above shows a gallery of photos of what The Stables looks like today! This property sleeps four people across two ensuite bedrooms with a large open plan living, kitchen, dining area and a spacious, enclosed garden and patio area including hot tub, pizza oven and BBQ. Notice there are some horse orientated décor pieces! Above the kitchen table we also managed to keep the original saddle hooks.

5 Star and Gold Award Visit England Rating

Results of the first Visit England Assessment

We were so nervous for the assessment of the cottages because blood, sweat and tears have gone into them, they have been a labour of love for the past four years and this was the pinnacle. We could not be happier with the results receiving a 5 Star Self Catered Visit England Accreditation for both Pasture House and The Stables. The cherry on top was that we were also awarded a Gold Award which recognised the extremely high standard of finish noted throughout. The assessor said that it was the highest rated property he had ever visited!

Here are some snippets of the assessment report...

"The extremely well presented Pasture House and converted Stables have been restored to the highest of standards and the owners should be congratulated. The attention to detail noted throughout is impressive. Sarah is clearly passionate about the property and her continual hard work and investment will maintain the extremely high standards, the 'Wow' factor and ensure guests have an amazing stay."

"Painted decor throughout is in excellent order with very good use of artwork, colourful curtains and coordinated furnishings helping to enhance the appearance and add to the style and feel. More original features noted in The Stables such as exposed brick work and original doorways further enhances. Exposed timber beams in The Stables and impressive log burners throughout help to add character. Excellent quality tiled flooring noted throughout which also helps to add to the quality of the accommodation. New carpets to the stairs and landings in Pasture House are excellent quality. Space is utilised well to maximise comfort with The Stables offering an open plan design and Pasture House having a separate lounge and large kitchen/dining area. Occasional furniture is very well maintained with impressive Chesterfield style sofas presenting excellently. Excellent natural and artificial spot lighting noted, with lamps very well placed. Controllable underfloor heating is responsive."

Starting to add some of the finishing touches to Pasture House Holiday Cottages!

We are so excited to show you how some of the finishing touches are starting to come together. The carpets were fitted last week so now we can start to furnish Pasture House and with it being a six bedroom property, that is quite a big task!

The work tops that were fitted today show the progress in the kitchen!

Three out of six of the bedrooms have walk-in wardrobes and each bedroom has a dressing table. There is a ground floor bedroom with level access and each bedroom has an en-suite.

I wasn't sure about these lamps at first because they were a lot bigger than what I expected but I think they go well with the wallpaper! We just need some beds now, the joiner has made these so that they are functionally zip and link; either two single beds or one super king.

There is going to be a bar area in the living room and these are the bar pendants which really compliment the oak beams and open brick work.

Large Luxury Accommodation Taking Bookings Now for October Onwards!

We thought we would show you how close we are to completion...

Pasture House kitchen units and the island are in place and the integrated appliances have been fitted. The Quartz unit tops are coming the week after next and the brushed brass handles and knobs have been ordered so they will soon be fitted.

These photos show the progress we have made outside putting the fence panels up to give you privacy between the two properties, the grass was sown a few weeks ago and is coming up nicely. Also the sandstone capping and coping really finishes the patio off with the glass panels and brass light fittings.

We have made the decision to take bookings from October onwards for now until we are closer to completion and then the summer dates will be released in due course, so watch this space! Luxury group accommodation in Yorkshire with stunning views

There’s nothing quite like watching the sun go down and the stars come out over a glass of wine and some great conversation. At Pasture House Holiday Cottages you see the most incredible views, no matter what season it is. Here are a few photos to give you some idea of what to expect when you visit us.

Pasture House Holiday Cottages is in the core of the English countryside!

Baring that in mind, we have created a large proportion of the holiday cottages outdoors! Both properties have a large patio area where you will be able to relax in the hot tub, whilst enjoying the views which quite often includes a gorgeous sunset. Or if the hot tub isn't your cup of tea, there are plenty of other areas to enjoy the outdoors.

At Pasture House, there is the addition of the oak fronted outdoor area which creates a bit of shelter if mother nature is not on your side but you still wish to enjoy the outdoors.

There are going to be glass panels between the pillars surrounding the patio area and this will provide a wind break for when you are sat relaxing in the hot tub.

If you have got an interest in nature then be sure to keep your eye out as the peaceful countryside is dotted with insects, birds, rabbits, deer to name a few!

Our holiday cottages before and after the build

Here are six photographs showing the gradual process of taking the old farmhouse down. We took the original house down slowly so that we could separate the materials and salvage as much as possible.

These next images show the progress from the first brick being laid and six months later with the last brick! This felt like such a big milestone but the work had only just begun in terms of completing the whole project.

The finished property, minus a door! As part of the planning remit, the footprint needed to be similar to the original property so you may notice some similarities with the one story addition to the left hand side of the property.

Pasture House Holiday Cottages, a family history

Five generations of the family have been connected to Pasture House, starting with Robert Croft, great-great-grandfather to the current generation. Here he is shown at the corner of the old house before it was painted white.

Robert and his wife Harriet Euphemia farmed Pasture House at the start of the twentieth century. They had eleven children but sadly only six survived to adulthood.

Great-grandmother to the current generation is Ena, who was born actually in Pasture House, shown here in 1916 near her mother’s right shoulder, with two of her sisters. Ena was one of Robert and Harriet Croft’s children.

Young Ena Croft didn’t stray far to find love, she and George Dean from the neighbouring Grove Farm were married for 65 years and had two children.
This photo shows the farms in 1954. The Crofts farming at Pasture House and the Deans at Grove Farm at the top.

In those days the fold-yard, comprising of brick and tile buildings, were used to house mixed livestock. It was usual to hand milk the house cow, graze a few sheep on the nearby pasture as well as rear a few pigs to sell at the local markets. Heavy horses were used to work the arable land, and there were no such things as combines to bring the harvest in, in an era pre-mechanisation.

Ena and George Dean brought two children up at Grove Farm, in the interim Pasture House was sold by the Croft family.

John was the youngest child of Ena and George, he farmed all his life at Grove Farm but sadly died aged just 58.

John had two children, James being the youngest, he farmed with his father at Grove Farm, and in 2009 he became the tenant of the Pasture House farmland as well as buying the derelict house and buildings.

Sarah is James’s eldest daughter, she is the fifth and current generation. She graduated from Harper Adams University in 2018, she then worked for McCain in the agriculture department for 18 months and now she farms at home with her father and is leading the holiday cottage development.
