Local Food & Drink to Enjoy During Your Stay in East Yorkshire

From award-winning farm shops and cosy country pubs to seaside cafés and locally sourced treats, discover some of our favourite places to eat and drink during your stay at Pasture House Holiday Cottages

One of the best parts of any holiday is discovering great places to eat and drink, and East Yorkshire certainly doesn't disappoint. Whether you're looking for a hearty Yorkshire breakfast, fresh local produce to cook back at the cottage, a leisurely lunch after a countryside walk, or an evening meal with friends and family, you'll find plenty of fantastic options nearby.

At Pasture House Holiday Cottages, we're passionate about supporting local businesses and love sharing our favourite recommendations with guests. Many of these places have become firm favourites with returning visitors and are all within easy reach of the cottages.

Shop Local at Nearby Farm Shops

East Yorkshire is home to some fantastic farm shops, making it easy to fill your fridge with delicious local produce during your stay.

Cranswick Farm Shop is just a short drive away and is perfect for picking up fresh meat, locally baked treats and everyday essentials before settling into your cottage.

If you're exploring Beverley, don't miss Rose Cottage Farm Shop, a popular destination offering fresh produce, gifts and locally made products.

Travelling to or from the cottages via the motorway? Drewtons Farm Shop makes an excellent stop. Located close to the A63/M62, it's ideal for stocking up before you arrive or treating yourself to lunch on the journey home.

Enjoy Fresh Yorkshire Produce

We believe one of the joys of self-catering is being able to enjoy fantastic local food whenever you choose.

That's why every stay begins with a complimentary welcome hamper featuring a selection of Yorkshire favourites, helping you start your holiday with a true taste of the county.

Many guests also enjoy visiting local farm shops during their stay to pick up fresh ingredients before returning to the cottage to cook together, fire up the barbecue or enjoy homemade pizzas in the wood-fired pizza oven

Relax with Lunch at the Cow Shed Café

After a morning exploring Fraisthorpe Beach, one of our favourite recommendations is the Cow Shed Café.

Located just moments from the beach, it's the perfect place to warm up after a coastal walk or enjoy lunch before heading back to the cottages. Whether you're stopping for coffee and cake or something more substantial, it's a lovely addition to any seaside day out.

Reward Yourself After a Walk

If you're heading into the Yorkshire Wolds, there are plenty of welcoming country pubs waiting at the end of your walk.

The Wolds Inn at Huggate is a popular choice, offering traditional Yorkshire hospitality and hearty meals in beautiful countryside surroundings.

It's the perfect reward after exploring part of the Yorkshire Wolds Way or enjoying one of the many scenic walking routes through the Wolds.

Discover Beverley's Independent Food Scene

Beverley has earned an excellent reputation for its independent cafés, restaurants and traditional pubs.

Whether you're looking for brunch, afternoon tea, fine dining or a relaxed evening meal, you'll find plenty of options throughout the town centre.

Many guests enjoy spending the day exploring Beverley's historic streets before finishing with dinner or drinks at one of its many independent venues.

Enjoy the Best of Self-Catering

One of the biggest advantages of staying at Pasture House Holiday Cottages is the flexibility to enjoy meals exactly how you like.

Pick up fresh produce from a local farm shop, enjoy breakfast in the garden, cook together in the fully equipped kitchen, light the barbecue on a sunny evening or gather around the wood-fired pizza oven with family and friends.

There's no timetable to follow—just the freedom to relax and enjoy quality time together.

Why Local Food Makes Your Holiday Even More Special

Supporting local businesses is a wonderful way to experience the true character of East Yorkshire.

From independent cafés and traditional pubs to family-run farm shops and local producers, every visit helps you discover more about the area while enjoying exceptional Yorkshire hospitality.

Many of our guests tell us these hidden gems become some of the highlights of their stay.
